All the rumors are true people - Pine Forest Media’s debut docu-series, Something in the Water is now available for download wherever you get your podcasts.

The 10-episode limited series is hosted by Elena Berg - professor, environmental scientist, and water sommelier extraordinaire.

If you didn’t know what a water sommelier is, there are people out there who are trained to taste differences in water and understand what makes them different. They are dedicated to bringing natural mineral water to fine dining and they use their skills to curate deluxe water tasting menus and to craft the ultimate food-water pairing.

Elena Berg is one such type of people and this show is where fine water and fine podcasts meet. Throughout the series she talks to small water farmers and sommeliers all over the place who have discovered a natural source of spring water and have devoted their lives to water education.

In episode 6, Josef Salvat recounts the discovery of a spring on his mother’s farm in Australia. “Our cows discovered this water and their behavior completely changed. They started leaping around,” says Salvat.

You’ll also hear from guests in England, India, South Africa, and Austria about the water landscape in their areas and sustainability in their contexts.

Sustainability is a tricky subject to reconcile with the water industry. Waste, overuse and pollution are just some of the major challenges and debates this series tackles. It also dives into access and inequality, public trust in the tap, the concept of water rights and how to best protect this natural resource and the environment that gives it to us.

“As a chemist, it’s my favorite molecule,” says researcher Sherri Mason in Episode 2, “We go looking for life on other planets and we look for water because, to our knowledge, you can't have life without water. That's how fundamental it is.”

So stay hydrated and drink it up. Listen rate, and 5-star review Something in the Water now wherever you get your podcasts.
